BP loads LNG cargo from two terminals
BP has carried out a two-port loading in Europe over the past week, ahead of a delivery to be made in South America. The Celestine River, controlled by the UK-based shipper, first lifted volumes at France’s Fos Cavaou terminal last week before heading south to Spain’s Huelva terminal, where it was able to load further gas to fill up its tanks.
Traders said that the tanker is headed for Brazil’s Pecem terminal, where it should arrive around 27 December. The way in which the tanker was loaded could be a common sight during Europe’s winter as inventories run low, meaning reload shipments could have to be put together from a number of terminals. The only European country in which LNG stocks are considered healthy is the UK, which does not yet have the ability to reload LNG volumes, although the Isle of Grain terminal has explored the possibility of doing so in the near future.
